The Body of Benchers (BoB) has officially announced the date for the Call to Bar ceremony honoring successful candidates from the July 2023 Bar Final Examinations. This momentous event is set to take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the prestigious Body of Benchers Complex in Abuja.
The ceremony will kick off promptly at 11 am. In addition, preceding the Call to Bar event, an exclusive Body of Benchers meeting for its esteemed members will be held at the Main Court, Supreme Court of Nigeria, commencing at 1 pm on October 10.
It is noteworthy that each aspiring lawyer is entitled to bring along one guest to share in this significant occasion. The guest will receive an official invitation card from the Nigerian Law School before the ceremony date. All aspirants must carry their Nigerian Law School ID cards for identification purposes.
For smooth logistics, an accreditation exercise will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, starting as early as 6 am and concluding at 9:30 am on the day of the Call to Bar. Following accreditation, aspirants and their guests will be transported to the venue by bus to ensure efficient traffic management. Only cleared aspirants and their guests will be granted entry into the venue.
The prescribed dress code for the ceremony is formal attire, including robes and wigs. To ensure wider access and viewership, the event will be broadcast live on Channels Television and will also be streamed online via YouTube and other social media platforms.
It's important to note that the Body of Benchers holds the responsibility of formally admitting individuals to the Nigerian Bar, marking the culmination of their journey to becoming legal practitioners in Nigeria after successfully passing the Bar Final Examinations at the Nigerian Law School. These Call to Bar ceremonies are conducted biannually, following the release of examination results.
